Well today there is plenty of swell coming in but most of the beaches cannot handle it. It is probably the wind is coming out of the south east and messing it up. Wait till i check the bureau of meterology report.. It is blowing from the South South East at fourteen knots at this present moment at Nobbys weather station.
Caves Beach had swell coming in but it was closing out. There do not seem to be any banks there at the moment. I have had some sick waves there on a decent swell. Then i went and had a look at the channel and there were waves breaking. It was about four to five feet but it was very full and not tubing at all. There was about a dozen guys out and the sets seemed to be coming in pretty consistenly. I think the swell is coming out of the north east maybe. (They reckon it is coming out of the East-South-East) Is is coming off a cyclone up north? I do not know.
Merewether Point was closing out and way too messy. Nowhere along Dixons Park or Bar Beach were ridable. There were a few guys out at Newcastle point and there were a few biggish waves. But the wind was messing it up a bit too much. There were a few guys out and they were getting some OK waves. Some of the bigger sets were about five to six foot. But it had potential. The swell is coming the right way for the lefthanders off Newcastle Point so if the wind swings to the north it may be worth while having a look at it this afternoon..
It is low tide at the moment. (Just after midday) High Tide will be at 6:19 pm late this afternoon. Find somewhere that can handle the swell. I had a look at the webcam and the Pass at Byron Bay is about two to three foot and it looks pretty nice but you will have to battle the crowd of four thousand idiots..
