Mick Fanning will be the tops seed at Surfest 2007 to be held at Merewether Beach, Newcastle from March 12-18. Mick Fanning is number three in the world and has won Surfest three times before in 2000, 2002 and 2005. Last year he could not come to Surfest but this year Surfest is scheduled between the Gold Coast and Bell’s Beach contest on the World Qualifying Series.

Last Year’s defending champion Neco Padaratz will be coming back in 2007 to try and repeat his gargantuan effort of having to surf twelve times and winning in large waves at Merewether. Neco Padaratz will be number five seed for this year’s Surfest.

In the women’s event, Pauline Menczer has been given a wildcard entry. She has won twenty world championship tour events in her twenty year professional surfing career.
