New Guinea Surfers want surfboards

There is a story on the kids from LIdo in NOrthern Papua New Guinea who need surfboards. The kids trek through the jungle and make surfboards hacked out of tree roots.
The story is on SBS - Dateline tonight 21/2/07 in Australia at 8:30 pm.

Quote SBS:
“Fibreglass boards are thin on the ground in Lido Village so the kids trek through the jungle to cut wooden surfboards out of gigantic tree roots. The boards are shaped, sanded, left to dry for a week and then varnished - but for these talented young surfers the end result is hardly as good as surfing a commercially-made board.

Dateline is looking for good quality, second hand boards to send to the Lido village kids. If you possess such a board and you can transport it to SBS’s headquarters in Artarmon, Sydney then we’ll do the rest.

Please send an email to datelinepng@sbs.com.au. In it please include:

your name
your address
your telephone number
how old your board is and its condition
whether it’s kid or adult sized
confirmation that you can transport it to 14 Herbert St Artarmon, Sydney before Friday March 30, between the hours of 9am – 5pm, Mon – Fri.

We’ll reply to your email to let you know we got it, and to discuss further arrangements.

Dateline and the kids in Lido village, PNG thank you for your kindness. ”

Any Australian surfers who have boards they do not want please donate to the kids of New Guinea.
